Day 3
“The best part of life is when your family becomes your friends, and your friends become your family.” - Robin Roberts
We started off the morning EARLY- I forget that 5:30a is wake-up time for those under the age of 3. And apparently that means when the kids are up, everyone is up! We hadn’t seen the cousins in a little over a year and they are hilarious. And adorable. And BUSY- you really do forget how much movement comes with little kids.
We all (except the teenager, who was working on that 14.5 hrs of sleep) went out for breakfast at The Biscuit Place- great food!
After a little bit of grocery shopping, we all headed down to the lake for the day. The kids all received permission to jump off the neighbor’s top deck, and even MILES (super afraid of heights) took the challenge.
Miles and Charlie took the paddle boat, and I jumped in the kayak with Sophia, and we headed to the island across the lake. Great beach there! The last time we were here, 3 years ago, it was all rock. Now it was all sand! And the water? A very comfortable 88 degrees. Perfection.
Kevin and Charlie reeled in a GIANT catfish!
We are going to attempt to filet and cook it tomorrow. That should be interesting...
A giant spaghetti dinner with fresh meatballs and then the kids watched a movie while the adults played adult card games. Such a fun night!
Recap:
12 Miles
$132 - grocery run
I forgot to put 1 Capital Building yesterday - Indianapolis, IN
Today’s lessons:
1: Brad will flinch anytime I make a movement in his general direction. Years of training to make that happen. The kids won’t stop laughing at him.
2: Adventuring with a 2 year old makes everything exciting. “We are going to the ISLAND!!”
3: Nobody knows what to do with the catfish, so I will probably watch a YouTube video on how to clean it.
4: Miles really surprised me when he jumped off the top- we may be successful at zip lining after all on this trip!
Today’s song: “Somebody to Love” - Queen. Miles was put in charge of tunes haha! He can’t wait to see Bohemian Rhapsody!
Looking forward to a ride on the boat and some more time in the beautiful water! We have more visitors arriving today, can’t wait!
